We are a people-focused organisation with a growing portfolio of businesses. Based in the City of London, the heart of the global insurance industry, we work closely with insurers, funders and other business partners, identifying future opportunities for us to jointly create mutual value.
About the Role
We're looking for a Finance Assistant to join our busy Finance Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in finance and associated Insurance business administration.
They do not need extensive finance experience, but need to be naturally organised, comfortable working with numbers, and enjoy investigating problems and finding solutions. I am looking for someone who demonstrates common sense, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
Working closely with colleagues across the business, they will help ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, discrepancies are investigated promptly, and records are maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve financial and administrative queries.
- Review account records and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions.
- Liaise with internal teams and external partners to gather information and resolve issues.
- Assist with receipt allocation and processing Insurer payments and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Monitor outstanding items and ensure actions are completed within agreed timescales.
- Support monthly reconciliation activities and reporting processes.
- Assist with client refund administration and related queries.
- Provide support during internal and external audits.
- Carry out ad hoc analysis, reporting and administrative tasks for senior management.
- Support the wider Finance Team with a variety of day-to-day activities.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good numerical skills and confidence working with data.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- A curious and investigative mindset.
- Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with colleagues and external contacts.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
This role would suit someone who:
- Has some work and life experience and is ready for their next challenge.
- Enjoys solving problems rather than simply processing tasks.
- Takes pride in getting things right.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Wants to develop a long-term career within a professional finance environment.
- Previous experience in a finance, administration or customer service role.
- Experience using business systems or databases.
We're looking for someone with intelligence, curiosity and good judgement. They don't necessarily need years of finance experience, but should be comfortable working with numbers, asking questions, and taking ownership of problems through to resolution. I'm looking for someone organised, proactive and keen to learn.
