Your work will focus on general support and integration, making sure volunteer teams are well‑informed, connected, and equipped to offer person‑centred help. From guiding families with daily settling in, to supporting access to language learning, education, and employment.
As part of our Voluntary Leadership Team (VLT) at Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees (SWR), you’ll play a key role in coordinating our incredible volunteers and ensuring families receive the support they need to build independence and feel at home in their new community – putting you right at the heart of what makes our community thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support communication between lead volunteers and central SWR services to help source equipment or assistance for families.
- Help oversee the changing needs of families, recognizing that support levels will gradually reduce as independence builds.
- Collaborate with local authority support workers where families are still receiving formal assistance.
- Assist in developing and tracking Path to Independence Plans for families.
- Liaise with team leads across Education, Language, and Employment functions.
- Keep the Volunteer Lead and wider VLT informed as appropriate.
Who We’re Looking For
- Compassionate, patient, and non‑judgmental
- A good communicator, both in writing and in person
- Organised, with strong attention to detail
- Flexible and culturally sensitive to varying family needs
- At least 3 years’ experience in public relations, volunteer management and safeguarding
- Reasonably confident with IT tools (email, shared files, online forms, etc.)
