The Successful Applicant:

We are looking for a job‑share CCTV Operator with the possibility of progressing to a permanent position to work in Sevenoaks District Council's CCTV Control Room. The individual must be suitably qualified and experienced. The role will involve monitoring and proactive patrol via view screens. The individual will be required to operate all equipment, cameras, and radios, and to comply with relevant legislation, the CCTV code of practice, and all operational control room procedures at all times, on a rotating 7‑day‑a‑week shift pattern, including nights, weekends & bank holidays, including Christmas. The CCTV control room receives out‑of‑hour's emergency calls. You will be responsible for ensuring these calls are handled effectively and for implementing the Council’s 24‑hour emergency call‑out arrangements when required. Applicants must be able to speak clearly and concisely, understand and respond quickly and efficiently in an emergency. This is a key role within the Council’s overall Community Safety Strategy, and if you believe you have the required skills and experience, we would be delighted to hear from you. Appointment is subject to the completion of Criminal Records Bureau and police checks before the commencement of employment.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll join a dynamic and forward‑thinking team delivering services that matter. Every day is different. We are one of the few local government authorities to hold Platinum Investors in People accreditation – our commitment to supporting and developing you is genuine and ongoing. Other benefits include:

  • Enhanced annual leave of 25 days (excluding bank holidays)
  • Additional leave after 5 years of service
  • Opportunities to join in with social activities
  • Free parking
  • Employee benefits including discounts on shopping, travel, days out and more
  • Tusker car salary sacrifice scheme and discounts with your MOT
  • Access to BUPA Employee Assistance Programme, a free, 24/7, confidential counselling and wellbeing support service

Please note that annual leave is calculated based on a 37‑hour week/74‑hour fortnight shift pattern. As this is a job‑share role, the pay and annual leave entitlement will be divided equally between the two post‑holders.
