We’re looking for a senior engineer who combines deep technical capability with the drive to take ownership and lead from the front. As our Lead Engineer, you’ll be the technical anchor of the Engineering team - setting the bar for code quality, shaping our architecture, and helping the team move faster and more confidently. This is a high-ownership role with real influence. You’ll work closely with our Director of Product Engineering to define technical direction, drive best practices, and solve the hard problems that matter most to our platform and our customers. You’ll be joining at an exciting moment - we have strong foundations, a clear product vision, and the ambition to go further. We’re looking for someone who wants to help shape what comes next.
What you’ll be doing:
- Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Own and drive architectural decisions, setting standards that support scalability, reliability, and maintainability across the platform.
- Be the go-to technical authority on the most complex engineering challenges — leading from the front, not just advising from the side.
- Champion modern development practices, including AI-assisted development, automation tooling, and continuous improvement.
- Shape and maintain engineering standards, code quality, and review culture across the team.
- Delivery & Engineering Excellence
- Stay hands‑on in engineering — writing, reviewing, and owning meaningful portions of the codebase.
- Help the team move faster through better tooling, clearer patterns, and reduced complexity.
- Support planning and estimation, bringing technical rigour to delivery confidence.
- Identify and address technical debt in a pragmatic, prioritised way.
- Work closely with the Director of Product Engineering to translate product goals into sound technical approaches.
- Partner with Product Management to assess feasibility, surface trade‑offs, and inform roadmap decisions.
- Engage with customers where relevant to better understand real‑world usage and technical priorities.
- Team Development
- Act as a technical mentor to engineers in the team, raising technical capability across the board.
- Help create a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous learning.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of full‑stack software development, with a track record of senior or lead‑level ownership.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently across multiple teams and workstreams with minimal guidance.
- Experience making and owning architectural decisions in production systems — and living with the consequences.
- Proven ability to improve delivery speed and quality through practical, iterative approaches.
- Experience introducing or championing modern and emerging engineering practices, including AI‑assisted development tooling such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
- Comfortable working in fast‑moving environments where priorities shift, and pragmatic decisions are needed quickly.
- Knowledge of the Salesforce development ecosystem (LWC, Apex, security practices) and the ability to work with Salesforce and third‑party integrations.
Nice to have:
- Experience with serverless architecture on AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3).
- Familiarity with vector databases and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) frameworks.
- Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer I/II, AI Specialist).
- Experience with containerised applications and CI/CD pipelines.
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, ML Speciality).
Location: Hybrid, with three days a week in our office in central Liverpool.
Perks of the job:
- Annual leave that increases with tenure - starting at 25 days per year, increasing up to 30 days.
- Company bonus scheme.
- A monthly allowance to spend on health and wellbeing platform, Heka - choose from over 5,000 options including gym memberships, therapy, health cash plans, meditation apps and more.
- Regular team socials.
Background checks: As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and trustworthy environment, we’ll carry out standard background checks, including a DBS check. These help ensure there are no ongoing criminal proceedings and support the prevention of fraud and other forms of serious misconduct. If anything of concern is identified, it may affect your eligibility for certain roles or services.
