The role:
- As Assistant Merchandiser you will be responsible for the optimization of stock levels for your category. You will have full accountability for stock holding, availability and warehouse space.
- The Assistant Merchandiser will work closely with the buying team and will own the OTB process, driving accurate forecasting and ensuring optimum availability to deliver KPIs such as sales, margin, basket size, stock holding etc.
- In the role, the Assistant Merchandiser will manage the stock clearance and exit strategy, recommending lines for discontinuation and minimising write-offs.
- Building long-term relationships with suppliers, the Assistant Merchandiser will nurture effective long-term supply partnerships, from onboarding to regular performance reviews.
- Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will identify trends and any potential issues and will be solution driven to develop and implement the appropriate strategy.
Ideal candidate:
- This Assistant Merchandiser role is ideal for a commercial individual who has merchandising experience gained from UK food, beauty, clothing or home retail. Ideally, you will have ecommerce experience.
- It is essential to be able to demonstrate hands-on merchandising and have worked directly with suppliers.
- In addition, you will demonstrate a passion for the customer and a flair for commerciality, and you must be able to show good commercial acumen, strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent communication skills.
- It is essential to have fantastic data and analytical skills.
- Must be a fantastic relationship builder with the ability to work cross-functionally internally and externally.
