This Buyer role is a new position and is ideal for an individual who wants to progress their career in an environment with progression opportunities.

The role involves developing, implementing, and reviewing a trading strategy for a specific food product range, creating innovative buying strategies that exceed customer expectations. The Buyer will create and deliver the category vision focusing on growing cash sales and margin delivery, as well as building long-lasting mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers. The Buyer will source new suppliers and products that will excite consumers and create value, choice, and quality, growing sales and margin. Additionally, the Buyer will develop and manage a cost reduction strategy that delivers targeted margin and will have a strong understanding of market dynamics and commodities.
Using data and insights and working with internal and external stakeholders, you will develop the strategic plan that will deliver long-term growth.
Ideal candidate: This Buyer role is ideal for a commercial individual who has food buying experience gained from UK food retail or wholesale. It is essential to demonstrate hands-on buying and have negotiated directly with suppliers, showcasing different tactics and styles. You will also need to demonstrate a passion for the customer, product, and a flair for commerciality. Working as part of a team, you must have excellent relationship-building skills and be able to communicate and influence with internal and external stakeholders. As a Buyer, you must have good insight and data analysis skills and be able to action opportunities to drive profit.
