Our client is an extremely successful, market-leading food retailer with significant turnover. They operate in a highly commercial environment with a fast-paced culture focused on exceeding customer expectations.

This Sourcing Manager role is a new position and is ideal for an individual who wants to progress their career in an environment with progression opportunities. The role offers excellent flexible working - 2 days a week in the office and the rest from home.

As Sourcing Manager, you will develop and manage the sourcing strategy for a key range of food products, working with existing suppliers and sourcing new ones. You will be responsible for negotiating cost price increases and developing and implementing a plan to reduce the cost of goods to ensure margin targets are achieved. You will work collaboratively with suppliers on range and NPD opportunities, ensuring that sustainable sources of supply are always achieved. Using data and insights and working with internal and external stakeholders, you will develop the strategic plan that will deliver long-term growth.

The ideal candidate will have food buying experience gained from UK food retail or wholesale. You could also be working within hospitality or in a commercial role within an own label food manufacturer. It is essential to demonstrate hands-on buying or commercial experience gained from the UK food industry and have negotiated directly with suppliers, demonstrating different tactics and styles.

In addition, you will demonstrate a passion for the customer, product, and a flair for commerciality. Working as part of a team, you must have excellent relationship-building skills and be able to communicate and influence with internal and external stakeholders. As Sourcing Manager, you must have good insight and data analysis skills and be able to action opportunities to drive profit. You will have excellent planning and organization skills and will be able to work independently on your own initiative, being a self-starter with a can-do attitude.
