The Head of Finance vacancy: Due to retirement, we have a vacancy for a Head of Finance. This broad standalone role takes full end to end responsibility for all of finance from bookkeeping to accounting, including payroll and credit control. The successful Head of Finance will work with the leadership team ensuring smooth running of the business and supporting with future growth and strategy. Reporting to the directors, this role is ideal for candidates who have a proven track record and experience of working as a financial accountant ideally within an entrepreneurial, growth focused, fast paced and personable culture.
Core responsibilities:
- Manage and process all accounting transactions across sales ledger, purchase ledger, journals, accruals, prepayments, bank entries, reconciliation and salaries.
- Timely posting of bank receipts and payments.
- Pull together and analyse monthly management accounts including reconciling profit and loss forecast for the year and managing and reconciling balance sheets.
- Analyse financial trends and provide advice to the leadership team.
- Perform month end and year end processes.
- Manage payroll including submissions to HMRC, pension portal, PAYE payments, salary sacrifice and commission calculations.
- Manage invoices and credit control.
- Provide weekly report on sales, receipts and aged debt.
- VAT quarterly payment.
- Prepare annual P&L and balance sheet.
- Prepare year end analysis for auditors and ensure annual statements are filed on time.
- Comply with financial policies and regulations.
Requirements:
For the Head of Finance role you must have a proven track record and experience of working as a financial accountant and have an in depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures and standards. This will include experience of recording financial information and reading and reconciling balance sheets. You will have extensive experience with accounting software such as SAGE and experience with general ledger functions. The Head of Finance will be a standalone role therefore experience in a standalone role is essential but at the same time you will be a fantastic communicator and business partner to the leadership team. Ideally you will have had experience for managing payroll and will have extensive experience of using and running SAGE Payroll and managing aged debt. You will have advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables and the ability to create and use complex Excel spreadsheets. As Head of Finance you will have exceptional integrity along with fantastic communication skills and the ability to present detailed complex information in an easy to understand manner. You will have had experience of advising and supporting business strategy from a financial perspective.
