Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a busy local authority finance team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior finance professional with strong public sector or local government experience to support strategic financial planning, budgeting, and business partnering across key service areas.
This role is ideal for candidates with a background in public sector finance, local authority accounting, management accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and budget management.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a strategic finance partner to service directors and senior managers
- Provide high-quality financial advice, analysis, and challenge to support decision-making
- Lead on budget setting, forecasting, and medium-term financial planning
- Monitor financial performance and identify risks, savings, and efficiencies
- Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders and committees
- Support year-end processes and statutory reporting requirements
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure effective financial governance
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes
- Proven experience in a Finance Business Partner or senior management accounting role
- Strong background in local government or public sector finance
- Qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence senior leaders and provide clear financial insight
- Strong Excel and financial systems experience
