The Role
Seven Resourcing are recruiting for a Governance Business Partner to support a leading housing and care organisation in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced governance professional with board, risk, compliance, or company secretarial experience to support the Governance & Risk Manager in maintaining a strong and effective governance framework. You will play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting Board and Committee processes, maintaining statutory registers, and delivering high-quality governance advice across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Governance & Risk Manager in developing, reviewing, and improving governance policies and processes in line with organisational strategy
- Proactively monitor legislative and regulatory changes, carrying out horizon scanning and supporting gap analysis activity
- Maintain statutory registers including Declarations of Interest, Gifts and Hospitality, Asset & Liability registers, and other compliance records
- Coordinate and submit annual regulatory returns to Companies House and the FCA
- Act as a key point of contact for Executives, Board Members, Committee Chairs, and senior stakeholders
- Prepare and coordinate Board, Committee, and Subsidiary meetings, including:
- Maintaining meeting calendars
- Supporting agenda preparation
- Collating and quality-checking Board papers
- Recording actions and ensuring follow-up implementation
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in a governance, compliance, risk, or company secretarial support role
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks, risk management, and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of GDPR legislation and relevant commercial law principles
- Experience supporting Boards and Committees in a complex organisation
- Ability to coordinate and quality assess detailed Board papers to a high standard
- Experience managing complex diaries and prioritising competing demands
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate confidently and diplomatically
- High level of discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information
