Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a local authority organisation in Gateshead on an interim 3-month assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior finance professional to provide strategic business partnering support across commercially focused services and council-owned companies, helping to strengthen financial planning, governance, and commercial assurance arrangements. The successful candidate will work on a defined package of work focused on reviewing financial models, improving governance processes, and supporting long-term financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Refresh and update medium-term financial business plans, including forecasts, assumptions, and supporting commentary
  • Review and challenge financial models to identify risks, sensitivities, and mitigation strategies
  • Provide financial insight and commercial recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Conduct end-to-end reviews of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), assessing scope, cost allocation, charging structures, and value for money
  • Deliver professional financial advice to management teams and service leads
  • Support strategic financial planning and financial sustainability objectives
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and present complex information clearly to a variety of stakeholders
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Support governance, assurance, and financial control processes
  • Manage workloads effectively while meeting tight deadlines

Essential Requirements

  • CCAB qualification or equivalent
  • Experience working within a public sector finance, governance, audit, or assurance environment
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, governance, and risk management
  • Experience operating at senior finance business partner level
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience presenting complex financial information to senior audiences
