Location: Durham, DH1

Contract: Temporary, 3 months

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (37 hours per week)

Pay Rate: £380.70 per day PAYE | £500.00 per day Umbrella

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for a Senior Surveyor (Grade 12 – Technical) to join a well-established local authority team on a temporary basis. This opportunity would also suit a Principal Surveyor with the relevant background and experience.

The Role

You will join a supportive and collaborative property team, managing a varied rural and operational estate portfolio. The role will focus heavily on rural tenancy management and associated estate matters, alongside involvement in infrastructure and utilities schemes. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with attendance in the office two days per week and the remaining days working from home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of rural property interests, including Farm Business Tenancies and Agricultural Holdings Act tenancies.
  • Provide professional estate management advice across a diverse property portfolio.
  • Negotiate lease terms, rent reviews, renewals, and related agreements.
  • Support and advise on utilities and infrastructure projects affecting land and property interests.
  • Undertake inspections, valuations, and negotiations in line with professional standards.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal governance procedures.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver efficient and effective property services.

Candidate Requirements

  • Significant experience in rural estate management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Farm Business Tenancies and Agricultural Holdings Act tenancies.
  • Experience dealing with utilities and infrastructure schemes is highly desirable.
  • Professional qualification in surveying (e.g., MRICS or equivalent) preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Experience working within a public sector or local authority setting is advantageous.
