Seven Resourcing is currently recruiting for an experienced Pensions Accounting & Investment Manager (Finance) to join a busy public sector finance team based in Chichester. This is a senior and highly specialist finance role providing strategic and operational support in relation to pension fund accounting, investment activity, and scheme governance. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the administration of pension schemes and driving service improvement across complex financial processes.

The Role

As Pensions Accounting & Investment Manager, you will provide professional financial and managerial support to the administering authority for the Local Government Pension Scheme and associated pension arrangements. You will lead on delivering efficient, compliant, and customer-focused pension finance services, ensuring statutory requirements are met while identifying opportunities for improvement, innovation, and long-term planning. This role requires strong leadership capability, technical pension fund knowledge, and the ability to manage relationships with internal stakeholders, external providers, and governance bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee pension accounting and investment-related financial processes
  • Support delivery of the Local Government Pension Scheme administration function
  • Ensure compliance with statutory guidance, regulations, and financial reporting standards
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance and pensions team
  • Manage relationships with external investment and pension service providers
  • Prepare reports for senior officers, committees, and governance boards
  • Support budget planning, forecasting, and financial analysis

Proven experience in pensions finance, investment accounting, or public sector finance management. Strong leadership experience managing teams and external providers. Excellent understanding of pension scheme governance and financial regulations. Highly organised with strong workload planning and prioritisation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills across senior stakeholders and governance bodies. Ability to manage complex projects and deliver service improvements. Experience within Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) desirable.
