Seven Resourcing are currently seeking an experienced Building Inspector (Plan Assessor) to support a Local Authority in Manchester on a short-term contract. This is a senior-level role where you will take strategic accountability for delivering complex and high-profile Building Control projects. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will lead on the design, development, and implementation of frameworks that ensure effective technical service delivery and regulatory compliance.
You will work collaboratively across departments to ensure robust governance structures are in place, supporting both operational and strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert technical consultancy within Building Control, delivering innovative and compliant solutions aligned with legislation and customer requirements.
- Lead on the review and development of service standards, defining KPIs and driving continuous improvement.
- Ensure all strategies align with corporate objectives and Public Service Reform principles.
- Take ownership of complex project delivery, ensuring outcomes meet legal and organisational requirements.
- Support the Council’s approach to external regulatory inspections and internal governance processes.
- Develop and maintain effective systems and procedures to manage statutory and internal governance functions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote efficient, compliant, and high-performing services.
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Professional membership with one of the following (or equivalent): MCABE (Chartered Association of Building Engineers), MCIOB (Chartered Institute of Building), MRICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
- Registered as a Class 3 G-H Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator.
- Proven experience within Building Control, ideally in a Local Authority or Registered Building Control Approver environment.
