Seven Resourcing is currently recruiting a Senior Technical Surveyor to manage and deliver Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) construction projects within a local authority setting in Bridgwater. This role is ideal for an experienced technical surveyor or construction professional with strong project management and Principal Designer experience.
The Role
As a Senior Technical Surveyor, you will manage, deliver, and supervise a range of construction and adaptation projects, ensuring the council’s statutory duties under the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) programme are met. You will be responsible for controlling financial, legislative, and reputational risks while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. You will work closely with clients who have a wide range of disabilities, requiring a compassionate, professional, and client-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and delivering DFG-funded construction and adaptation projects
- Acting as Principal Designer, designing, specifying, procuring, and project managing intermediate-scale projects from inception to completion
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, building regulations, and health & safety requirements
- Managing project budgets, costs, and financial controls
- Supervising contractors and consultants to ensure quality and performance standards are met
- Assessing and managing risks across financial, legislative, and reputational areas
- Working directly with clients with complex and diverse disabilities to ensure their needs are fully understood and met
- Coordinating with internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders
- Producing technical reports, specifications, and project documentation
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Technical Surveyor, Building Surveyor, or similar role
- Strong experience delivering DFG projects or public sector construction programmes
- Experience undertaking the role of Principal Designer
- Excellent project management and contract administration skills
- Sound knowledge of building regulations, health & safety, and construction legislation
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work sensitively with vulnerable clients
