Seven Resourcing is currently recruiting an experienced Substance Misuse Consultant Psychiatrist to work in Blackpool, providing specialist psychiatric input within substance misuse and addiction services. This is an excellent locum opportunity offering a highly competitive hourly rate and flexible working arrangements.
The Role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Substance Misuse, you will play a key clinical leadership role in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of adults with complex drug and alcohol dependency. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based care across community and specialist settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior medical leadership within substance misuse and addiction services
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for individuals with drug and alcohol dependency
- Diagnose and manage complex mental health and substance misuse presentations
- Prescribe and review pharmacological treatments in line with NICE guidance
- Support risk assessment, care planning, and relapse prevention strategies
- Work collaboratively with nurses, psychologists, social workers, and recovery teams
- Offer clinical supervision and advice to junior medical staff and MDT colleagues
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- CCT or CESR in Psychiatry
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (Substance Misuse / General Adult Psychiatry)
- Significant experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in substance misuse or addiction services
- Strong knowledge of drug and alcohol treatment pathways
- Section 12 approval (desirable)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
