Seven Resourcing is currently recruiting a Press and PR Officer to join a busy Corporate Communications and Marketing team based in Birkenhead, Merseyside. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced communications professional with a background in press, public relations, media handling, and marketing within the public sector.
The Role
As a Press & PR Officer, you will support the Corporate Communications, PR & Engagement Manager in delivering effective internal and external communications. You will help promote, protect, and enhance the organisation’s reputation by ensuring key messages are coordinated and communicated across a range of channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Press, PR & Media Relations
- Researching, writing, and publishing press releases in response to media enquiries
- Proactively identifying future news stories and securing coverage across local, regional, national, and specialist media
- Responding to media enquiries with accurate statements and timely information
- Producing engaging news stories and content to promote services, initiatives, and key priorities
- Monitoring the performance of press and PR activity to support continuous improvement
- Assisting with the development and delivery of the Media Protocol
- Supporting internal and external communication channels
- Assisting with marketing and engagement campaigns where required
- Ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms
- Building strong relationships with key decision-makers and opinion formers, including media contacts
- Advising colleagues and senior stakeholders on communications and reputational matters
- Safeguarding organisational reputation through clear, engaging communications
- Liaising with media partners and providing communications advice and support
- Managing external contractors such as photographers, PR agencies, and marketing partners
- Adhering to corporate policies including GDPR, Health & Safety, governance, and codes of conduct
- Ensuring communications activity complies with relevant legislation and best practice
Requirements
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience
- Qualification or background in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, or Communications
- Proven experience in press, PR, media relations, or corporate communications
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
