This is an exciting opportunity to take a senior operational role within Environment & Community Services, where you will help shape and deliver high-quality public protection and neighbourhood services across Middlesbrough.

What you will do:

  • Support the Lead for Community Environment in providing effective leadership and oversight across Environment & Community Services.
  • Ensure financial and physical resources are deployed efficiently and report on performance costs against agreed standards.
  • Oversee service delivery in line with best practice for horticultural services and arboricultural work, ensuring legislative compliance.
  • Manage contracts for tree inspections and related works, maintaining accurate and centralised records.
  • Lead revenue budget development and financial management within the service area.
  • Ensure pricing for income-generating work delivers Best Value using NEPO Framework arrangements and approved suppliers.
  • Support workforce development through personal development planning and training programmes.
  • Lead on sickness monitoring and absence management, ensuring procedures are applied effectively.
  • Engage with internal departments, councillors, and partner organisations to support coordinated service delivery.
