A well-established Secondary School in Haringey is seeking an experienced and reliable Design & Technology Technician to join their DT department on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician with experience supporting Resistant Materials, Woodwork, and workshop machinery within an educational setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching staff, maintaining workshop equipment, preparing materials for lessons, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical DT lessons.
  • Supporting the delivery of Resistant Materials and Woodwork projects across KS3 and KS4.
  • Maintaining, servicing, and organising workshop machinery and equipment.
  • Carrying out routine safety checks and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Managing stock levels and ordering materials when required.
  • Assisting teachers during practical lessons where necessary.
  • Ensuring all machinery and equipment are used safely and appropriately.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
  • Supporting risk assessments and departmental safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Resistant Materials, Woodwork, and workshop machinery.
  • Experience operating and maintaining woodworking machinery safely.
  • Relevant machinery, workshop, or health and safety qualifications/certificates.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
