- Manage a varied caseload of child care and education cases, providing direct support and assistance to team members.
- Collaborate effectively with key clients and stakeholders to build strong, strategic relationships.
- Provide proactive legal services within the People Team's remit, addressing issues early to contribute strategically to initiatives.
- Attend crucial meetings and panels such as strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and the Corporate Parenting Panel.
- Draft and manage court applications, prepare statements, correspond with counsel, and handle pre-court preparations.
- Conduct child care litigation and attend hearings across various legal forums.
- Provide legal advice for committees or sub-committees as necessary.
- Review and advise on reports for policy or procedural implications and draft amendments.
- Create and deliver training seminars for team members and clients.
- Conduct legal research to support casework.
- Assist with public interest immunity casework and support junior team members.
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Support the management of the People Team, providing training and workload delegation.
