Seven Chambers is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Clerk / Practice Manager to support the day-to-day operation and strategic growth of a modern, start-up barristers’ chambers.

This is a remote, part-time role (20 hours per week initially), ideal for a self-motivated clerk or chambers professional with 3–7 years’ relevant experience, preferably within barristers’ chambers, legal services, or advocacy-focused practice management.

The successful candidate must be proficient in Lex Chambers Management System, highly organised, responsive, and confident managing both operational and business development functions.

Key responsibilities include diary and fee management, client and solicitor liaison, practice administration, case coordination, invoicing support, business development, marketing support, assisting with brand growth, professional relationship management, and helping drive the continued expansion of Seven Chambers domestically and internationally.

The role requires excellent communication skills, commercial awareness, discretion, strong organisational ability, and a proactive approach to supporting Counsel while helping shape the long-term success of chambers.

Experience with legal marketing, digital systems, lead generation, and strategic growth is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be expected to play a key role in the continued growth of Seven Chambers.

As Chambers expands, it is anticipated that this position will develop into a full-time role within approximately 6–12 months, with a transition from remote working to hybrid and then to a predominantly office-based position at our London premises.

Qualifications 3–7 years' experience as a Barristers' Clerk, Practice Manager, or in a comparable legal practice management role, preferably within barristers' chambers.

Demonstrable experience using the Lex Chambers Management System is essential.

Strong understanding of barristers' chambers operations, including diary management, fee negotiation, case administration, billing, and client care.

Experience in business development, marketing, relationship management, and practice growth within the legal sector is highly desirable.

Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Commercially minded, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

High level of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and confidence using legal technology and digital practice management systems.

Experience managing websites, social media platforms, CRM systems, or digital marketing campaigns would be advantageous.

A positive, collaborative attitude and a genuine desire to contribute to the long-term growth and success of Seven Chambers.

Previous experience working remotely and the ability to manage workload effectively in a flexible working environment is desirable.
