The Assistant Principal for Inclusion is a key senior leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering the school’s vision for inclusive education across all phases. The postholder leads on SEND, Pupil Premium, and EAL provision, ensuring that every pupil regardless of background or need has equitable access to a high-quality, ambitious curriculum and is supported to achieve strong academic and personal outcomes.

The role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight, including ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements such as the SEND Code of Practice, Equality Act, and safeguarding expectations. A core aspect of the role involves using data rigorously to identify barriers to learning, monitor progress, and implement targeted, evidence-informed interventions that close attainment gaps and raise standards.

The Assistant Principal for Inclusion also plays a central role in developing staff expertise through high-quality professional development, promoting adaptive teaching practices, and embedding a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement. They oversee transition processes, support pupil wellbeing and mental health, and ensure effective systems for behaviour, attendance, and engagement particularly for vulnerable groups.
