Duties & responsibilities
- Leadership and management of the school
- Responsible for the day-to-day running of the school site.
- Manage & organise the school’s environment efficiently and effectively to ensure that it meets the needs of the curriculum and health and safety regulations.
- Manage the school’s budget and resources alongside the Executive Headteacher.
- Produce & implement clear, evidence-based improvement plans and policies for the development of the school and its facilities.
- Recruit, retain and deploy staff appropriately, managing their workload to enable achievement of the vision and goals of school.
- Ensure the range, quality and use of all available resources is monitored, evaluated & reviewed to improve quality of education for all and provide value for money.
- Carry out responsibilities of this post with due regard to School’s Equality and Diversity Policy, Safeguarding policies, Health and Safety Policy and other School policies and procedures.
- Manage middle leaders, developing professional culture amongst all staff at the school.
- Support & challenge staff, dealing with underperformance effectively while making sure staff are given the support to do their jobs well.
- Implement school’s appraisal policy, other management processes and systems.
- Support implementation of school-wide and school-level policies.
- Undertake self-evaluation & school improvement planning alongside the school-wide strategy to improve areas of weakness in school.
- Support Executive Headteacher in recruitment of teaching & non-teaching staff where necessary.
- Provide training & continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities for all school staff.
- Identify areas of progression and promotion for staff that support succession planning for school.
- Implement strategies - secure high standards of behaviour and attendance which reflect the school’s agreed values in their response to the needs of vulnerable individuals.
- Challenge underperformance at all levels that ensure effective corrective action and follow-up.
- Co-ordination of submission of written reports for student review meetings.
Teaching and learning
- Work with staff promoting high quality teaching across all subjects.
- Determine, organise & implement diverse and flexible curriculum which takes account of the needs and aspirations of all pupils.
- Implement effective assessment framework.
- Monitor, evaluate & review classroom practice and promote improvement strategies.
- Identify areas of weakness in teaching and implement, monitor & review interventions to improve areas as well as teaching and learning across the school.
- Make sure school’s assessment system is fit for purpose and provides teachers with useful information about pupils.
- Monitoring outcomes and draw out any patterns of underperformance in key groups of pupils, such as disadvantaged pupils.
- Assisting development of appropriate curriculum, linked to the whole school curriculum, for learners ensuring learning experiences are organised in progression which supports the development of the individual student around educational targets.
- Drafting curriculum units, schemes of work and programmes of learning (lesson plans) to support effective delivery.
- Responsible for monitoring the delivery of provision.
- Demonstrate principles and practice of effective teaching and learning.
- Ensure consistent & continuous school wide focus on pupils’ achievement which reflects the agreed vision and values, using data and benchmarks to monitor progress in every child’s learning.
- Lead in accessing, analysing & interpreting information to inform planning for improvement.
- Develop strategies for improvement.
- Ensure learning is at centre of strategic planning and resource management.
- Establish creative, responsive & effective approaches to learning and teaching in line with the schools agreed educational vision and values, which are embedded in culture and ethos of challenge and support where all pupils understand their individual worth, can become engaged in their own learning and achieve success.
- Demonstrate and articulate high expectations, promoting individual and community aspirations by establishing challenging targets for the whole community.
Communication
- Help build on vision of the school and share with colleagues across the school how this is being demonstrated in the school.
- Attend relevant governing body meetings.
- Work with senior leaders to ensure school meets statutory responsibilities by giving objective professional advice and regular accounts of the school’s progress.
- Contribute to development of education system by sharing effective practice, working in partnership with other schools and promoting initiatives, especially with other diocesan schools.
- Attending and leading on EHC Plan Reviews in communication with external stakeholders.
Safeguarding Children and Adults
- Seva Care Group ensures all employees have a responsibility to support the School in its duties by:
- Attending mandatory training on Safeguarding children.
- Being familiar with individual and the School’s requirements under relevant legislation.
- Adhering to all relevant national and local policies, procedures, practice guidance and professional codes.
- Reporting any concerns to the appropriate authority.
