A well-established Tier 2 Regional Civil Engineering Contractor, operating successfully for over 50 years, is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong technical civil engineering background to join its North West team. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of technically complex civil engineering projects and be responsible for delivering them safely, on time, and to budget.
Project Types Include:
- Infrastructure and enabling works for commercial and public sector developments
- Earthworks and ground remediation
- Deep drainage, utilities, and attenuation systems
- Reinforced concrete substructures and foundations
- Access roads, external works, and public realm schemes
- Section 278 and local authority highway works
- Water, utilities, power, and renewables infrastructure projects
- Civils packages delivered alongside building projects
Role & Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of civil engineering projects
- Manage project teams, including Engineers, Site Managers, Foremen, and subcontractors
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project programmes and schedules
- Review technical designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure buildability and compliance
- Manage budgets, cost control, and commercial aspects of projects
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure all Health & Safety requirements are adhered to
- Ensure quality standards are achieved and maintained throughout the project lifecycle
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities
- Lead project progress meetings and reporting, including monthly progress and KPI reports
- Manage change control, variation orders, and contractual obligations
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the project team
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation in delivery
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager in Civil Engineering or Infrastructure Projects
- Strong Technical Civil Engineering knowledge, including earthworks, drainage, RC works, highways, and utilities
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors
- Proficient in MS Project, and standard office software
- Strong understanding of NEC or JCT contracts
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
