Site Engineer – Civil Engineering Location: Manchester Employment Type: Permanent Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + Car Allowance & Package Sector: Civil Engineering – Highways, Utilities, Earthworks, Drainage & Infrastructure A leading Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join their project delivery team on major infrastructure works in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to play a key role in the delivery of earthworks, reinforced concrete structures, deep drainage, and highways (S278 & S38) packages. Working alongside the Site Agent and Project Team, the Site Engineer will provide technical support, set out works, ensure compliance with drawings and specifications, and help drive safe, high-quality delivery. Key Responsibilities: * Setting out and surveying works across earthworks, drainage, RC structures, and highways schemes * Preparing as-built drawings, quality checks, and maintaining site records * Assisting with the development of Construction Phase Plans, logistics plans, and resource planning * Supporting the production of 4-week lookahead programmes and progress reporting * Coordinating with supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure safe and efficient delivery * Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards on site * Providing technical input to CE’s/variations and supporting programme updates in Microsoft Project * Assisting with temporary works coordination and supporting commercial meetings where required Candidate Requirements: * HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent * Previous experience as a Site Engineer with a Civil Engineering contracting * Strong knowledge of earthworks, highways (S278/S38), drainage, and RC works * Proficiency in setting out using GPS/total station and interpreting technical drawings * Good working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts advantageous * Strong IT skills including Microsoft Project and AutoCAD * Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills * Ambition to progress within a leading contractor What’s On Offer: * Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (dependent on experience) * Company Car or Car Allowance * Long-term pipeline of projects across Manchester and the wider North West * Career development opportunities with progression into Agent/Management roles
