Freelance Quantity Surveyor Required – Civils / Infrastructure

Location: Hull or Grimsby area

Contract: Freelance

Duration: Ongoing / project-based

Start: 27/7/26

Rate: £400-£500 per day

Setting Out Solutions Group are currently looking for an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a civil engineering contractor on a live infrastructure package. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in earthworks, piling, roads, drainage and general civil engineering, with the ability to manage commercial duties independently on a busy site.

Duties will include:

  • Managing subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment
  • Measuring works and producing accurate valuations
  • Managing variations, change control and commercial records
  • Supporting CVRs, cost reporting and forecasting
  • Liaising with site teams, clients, subcontractors and senior commercial staff
  • Ensuring commercial processes are followed across the project

Experience required:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering
  • Strong background in earthworks, piling and roads
  • Comfortable working on live infrastructure or groundworks projects
  • Able to work independently and support project delivery
  • Good understanding of subcontractor management, valuations and variations
  • Strong communication and commercial awareness
