To work collaboratively with Project Managers, Workshop, Production and Design teams to convert client briefs into accurate, buildable and install-ready drawing packages for manufacture, CNC production and onsite installation. The role supports the successful delivery of high-quality event and exhibition projects through effective technical design, drawing control and material specification.

Key Relationships

  • Reporting to Head of Draughting
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Workshop teamand clients

Main Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate construction drawings and technical drawing packs for workshop manufacture and onsite installation.
  • Produce CNC-ready layouts and production files.
  • Produce site layouts and installation documentation.
  • Translate client concepts and briefs into technically feasible designs.
  • Specify appropriate materials and construction methods.
  • Maintain drawing standards, revision controls, naming conventions and document issue procedures.
  • Conduct site surveys and produce accurate measured drawings where required.
  • Participate in project meetings and technical discussions.
  • Work collaboratively with Workshop, Production and Project Management teams throughout project delivery.
  • Support project debriefs and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, complete and issued within agreed project timescales.
  • Minimise drawing errors and rework through effective checking procedures.

Role Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of one or more 3D modelling packages including SolidWorks, SketchUp and Rhino.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of common materials and construction techniques used within scenic construction, events, exhibitions and bespoke fabrication.
  • Good working knowledge of set construction and/or furniture construction.
  • Strong client focus with a passion for delivery.
  • Self-starter able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability, flexibility and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and planning skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve problems quickly and pragmatically.
  • Demonstrates initiative and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ability to work within established company systems and document control procedures.
  • Highly motivated and collaborative team player.
  • Computer literate with ability to learn new software.
  • Maintains a calm and professional approach under pressure.
  • Acts professionally when representing the company.
  • Ability to accurately interpret client briefs.
  • Demonstrates creativity while maintaining practical and commercial considerations.

Travel Involved

  • Primarily office and workshop based.
  • Occasional travel for site surveys, client meetings and installations.

Additional requirements

  • The role requires flexibility to support project and event schedules. Evening and weekend workwill be required periodically.
  • Work in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Support compliance with company quality and environmental management systems.
  • Follow safe systems of work during site surveys and site visits.
