The Opportunity
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll work on low-level firmware and embedded systems development across a range of next‑generation products and prototypes.
This role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, working close to hardware, and contributing within a fast-moving R&D‑led environment where innovation and experimentation are actively encouraged.
You’ll collaborate closely with electronics engineers, software developers, systems engineers, and product teams to help shape and deliver robust embedded solutions from concept through to deployment.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and maintaining embedded software for ARM Cortex‑M / STM32‑based systems
- Designing and implementing new firmware features and capabilities
- Debugging and resolving low-level embedded and hardware integration issues
- Working with communication protocols including CAN, UART, SPI and I2C
- Supporting board bring‑up, integration and system‑level testing
- Contributing to performance optimisation, reliability improvements and code quality
- Working on connected and intelligent systems with real‑world applications
- What We’re Looking For
- 2‑3yrs at least of commercial experience in embedded systems / firmware development
- Strong Embedded C programming skills
- Experience working with STM32 or similar microcontroller platforms
- Understanding of low‑level drivers and hardware interfaces
- Confident debugging embedded systems using oscilloscopes, debuggers and logic analysers
- Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows
- Comfortable working within a collaborative, fast‑paced engineering environment
- Strong problem‑solving mindset and interest in R&D / innovation‑led engineering
- Nice experience to have
Any exposure to the following would be advantageous
- Motor control systems and platforms, Power electronics
- RTOS experience, bootloaders and firmware update strategies
- Python or scripting for testing/automation and any knowledge of Connected devices / Io T systems and safety‑critical or high‑reliability systems
