Hands-on Operations instead, you'll be relied on to take personal ownership of whatever needs doing, from customer issues through to internal projects. As the business grows, this role is expected to grow with it.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage customer enquiries, orders and ongoing client relationships, keeping customers informed at every stage.
- Produce quotations and support wider commercial activity.
- Coordinate engineers, service visits, maintenance and calibration work.
- Plan schedules and manage competing priorities as they arise.
- Take ownership of customer or operational issues and see them through to resolution.
- Keep day-to-day operations moving when the Managing Director is travelling or unavailable.
- Take on internal projects and see them through independently.
- Support HSE, compliance and general business administration where needed.
- Identify and implement improvements to existing processes.
- Work flexibly across different parts of the business rather than sticking to one function.
What We're Looking For
- Essential: Around 3-6 years' experience in operations, customer service, service coordination, project coordination, engineering support or a similar environment.
- Confident, professional communication - comfortable adapting your style across customers, engineers, suppliers and senior management.
- A track record of taking ownership of problems and seeing them through, rather than passing them on.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several priorities at once.
- Good judgement and the confidence to make decisions independently, particularly when senior management is unavailable.
- A calm, adaptable approach when plans or priorities change.
- A genuine willingness to get involved outside a formal job description and pick up whatever needs doing.
- Desirable: Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or technical business.
- Exposure to HSE or compliance processes.
- Experience producing quotations or supporting commercial/sales activity.
