Role Overview:
My client is seeking a skilled RF Engineer specializing in antenna design and integration for embedded systems. This role involves developing, optimizing, and testing antennas for wireless applications, ensuring seamless performance in compact embedded platforms. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, and PCB design teams to deliver high-performance RF solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Antenna Design & Development: Design, model, and optimize antennas (PCB, patch, dipole, PIFA, fractal, etc.) for embedded systems.
- Simulation & Analysis: Perform full-wave electromagnetic simulations using CST, HFSS, ADS, or FEKO.
- Testing & Tuning: Conduct RF measurements using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and anechoic chambers to validate antenna performance.
- Wireless Integration: Ensure seamless antenna integration with communication protocols like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, UWB, 5G, GNSS, and RFID.
- PCB & RF Layout Support: Collaborate with PCB designers to optimize RF signal integrity and minimize interference.
- EMI/EMC Compliance: Identify and troubleshoot EMI/EMC issues, ensuring designs meet industry regulatory standards (FCC, CE, ETSI).
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with firmware and hardware teams to optimize system-level RF performance.
- Prototyping & Validation: Develop, test, and refine antenna prototypes for new products.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain design documentation, reports, and test results for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills:
- Antenna Theory & Design: Strong understanding of RF propagation, impedance matching, and electromagnetic field analysis.
- RF Simulation & Modelling: Proficiency in CST, HFSS, ADS, FEKO, or similar tools.
- RF Testing & Measurement: Hands-on experience with VNAs, spectrum analyzers, anechoic chambers, and other lab equipment.
- Embedded RF Systems: Familiarity with integrating antennas into embedded platforms and low-power wireless devices.
- Wireless Protocols: Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, UWB, 5G, GNSS, RFID, and other RF communication technologies.
- PCB & RF Layout Considerations: Understanding of RF PCB design constraints and best practices.
- EMI/EMC Troubleshooting: Knowledge of regulatory compliance and mitigation techniques.
Education & Experience:
- B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in antenna design and RF engineering for embedded systems.
- Experience working with MIMO, beamforming, phased arrays, and low-power RF design is a plus.
