Overview

We are partnering with a Hertfordshire-based Managed Service Provider seeking a Head of Technical Services to take full ownership of the end-to-end technical function across the business. This is a senior leadership role responsible for technical strategy, service delivery, platform ownership and team development. The successful candidate will be both strategic and hands-on β€” comfortable setting direction, owning platforms and workflows, and stepping into complex technical and delivery challenges when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the Technical Services function across the organisation
  • Line-manage and develop the Cyber Security, Service Desk and Professional Services teams
  • Take full ownership of the technical services platform, including N-able RMM and associated tooling
  • Design, implement and continuously improve Halo PSA workflows, automation and reporting
  • Lead the design and launch of new managed services, ensuring technical and commercial viability
  • Scope, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges across customer environments
  • Act as the senior technical escalation point
  • Lead and attend client meetings, technical reviews and leadership calls
  • Ensure services are scalable, secure and aligned with SLAs and growth objectives
  • Drive a culture of accountability, empathy and continuous improvement
  • Support recruitment, mentoring and long-term team development
  • Partner closely with the Managing Director and leadership team on strategy, delivery and growth initiatives

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role within an MSP (essential)
  • Strong technical background across Microsoft infrastructure, cloud and security
  • Hands-on experience with N-able RMM in an MSP environment (desirable)
  • Strong experience designing and optimising Halo PSA workflows (desirable)
  • Confident operating in senior client-facing situations
  • Able to work at both strategic and operational levels
  • Empathetic leader with strong people management skills
  • Commercially minded, with a focus on service growth and scalability
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting hands-on when required
