About the Role:
Our client, a leading UK technology specialist, is seeking a Head of Solutions Architecture / Pre Sales to lead their growing Solutions team. This is a senior, client-facing role, combining technical leadership, pre-sales expertise, and team management. The successful candidate will work closely with the commercial team to shape client solutions, deliver technical workshops and presentations, and ensure best-in-class technical engagement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Solutions Engineers, setting technical standards and fostering a high-performing culture.
- Deliver technical pre-sales services, including Proofs of Concept (POCs), demonstrations, proposals, and tender responses.
- Build strong technical relationships with clients and act as a trusted adviser throughout the sales cycle.
- Support the sales team in discovery sessions, opportunity qualification, and client meetings.
- Analyse competitive solutions and recommend best-fit technical architectures.
- Represent the company at client workshops, webinars, and other events.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experienced Senior Technical Pre-Sales Engineer or Solutions Architect.
- Previous experience in an MSP with understanding of managed services delivery challenges.
- Broad technical knowledge across IT infrastructure, networking, security, cloud, and enterprise systems.
- Strong customer-facing experience in pre-sales, consultancy, or technical delivery.
- Excellent proposal and tender-writing abilities.
- Outgoing, confident, and personable with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Full, clean UK driving licence and flexibility to travel nationally.
Desirable Skills:
- Leadership experience managing pre-sales or technical teams.
- Hands-on experience or certifications with key technologies (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, Sophos, Microsoft 365/Azure, RMM tools, Email Security platforms).
- Experience delivering workshops, webinars, and presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate technical solutions into business value.
