A growing engineering SME in Loughborough is looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer who can work independently, take full ownership of electrical design, and bring structure to our design processes. If you thrive in a startup-style environment where you get to shape, improve, and deliver rather than just follow instructions — this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end electrical design: from schematics and layouts to final testing.
- Develop and maintain AutoCAD Electrical standards, templates, and libraries for consistency and scalability.
- Design and refine control panels for configurable products.
- Work hands-on when needed: wiring, testing, and supporting small-batch manufacturing.
- Act as the go-to problem solver for electrical challenges in both new and existing product designs.
What We're Looking For
- 5–8 years' relevant experience in electrical design, ideally within machinery, equipment, or panel-based systems.
- Proven expertise in AutoCAD Electrical (setup, schematics, libraries, templates).
- Strong background in control panel design and integration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Practical hands-on skills in wiring, testing, and assembly.
- Clear communicator with a methodical, problem-solving mindset.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience designing for international power specifications (50Hz / 60Hz).
- Exposure to PLCs, automation, or control systems.
- Previous experience in SMEs or startups, where flexibility and adaptability are key.
Why Join Us?
- Be the electrical design owner in a company where your expertise truly shapes the product.
- Work in a startup-style environment with the agility to make real impact.
- Competitive salary (£45–60k) and the chance to build, refine, and leave your mark on a growing business.
If you're an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with strong AutoCAD Electrical skills who enjoys working hands-on and independently, we'd love to hear from you.
