We are actively seeking a Compliance & Assurance Specialist to support supplier compliance and assurance activities. This role will ensure that suppliers and internal operations meet applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company expectations. The position involves working cross-functionally with Security, Procurement, Operations, Quality, Controls, and Regulatory teams to maintain compliance, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement across the operations processes.

Primary Responsibilities / Key Result Areas

  • Compliance & Assurance Oversight
    • Evaluate, qualify, and monitor contractual obligations to ensure adherence to ISO 9001, OSHA, environmental, and industry-specific standards.
    • Manage transversal requirements for large scale projects to include Joint Service Publications (JSP) such as 604 & 850, ensuring full compliance targets are achieved.
    • Conduct supplier audits and assessments; ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
    • Develop and maintain supplier quality agreements, assurance and compliance documentation.
    • Track supplier and operational performance using KPIs, scorecards, and trend analysis.
  • Manufacturing Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance of manufacturing processes with internal quality policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
    • Support internal and external audits (customer, regulatory, certification bodies).
    • Review and approve project compliance documentation including Quality (inspection reports, deviations, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and CAPAs), Security (Security Conditions and Security Aspects Letters), Assurance – (engineering lifecycles and service assurance).
    • Collaborate with operations to implement process improvements that enhance compliance, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Regulatory & Standards Alignment
    • Stay updated on applicable regulations, standards, and best practices impacting manufacturing and supplier quality.
    • Ensure adherence to ISO, OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations within supplier and internal operations.
    • UK Defence DEFSTANs and DEFCONs e.g. DEFCON 627 for Certificate of Conformity (CoC).
    • Provide training and guidance to cross-functional teams on compliance requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain compliance records, audit reports, and manufacturing quality documentation.
    • Prepare and present compliance reports and risk assessments to management.
    • Support the development and execution of SES’ Quality Management System (QMS).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in defence, manufacturing quality, supplier compliance, or regulatory affairs.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards including 9001, OSHA regulations, DEFSTANs, DEFCONs, JSPs and industry-specific standards.
  • Experience with defence contracts, supplier audits, CAPA management, and risk-based supplier evaluation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams.

Preferable competencies

  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), or Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with DEFCONs, DEFSTANs and JSPs.
  • Familiarity with electronic QMS systems and compliance software.
  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability compliance standards for suppliers and manufacturers.
