About the Role

As the Director of Water Services (Regional), you will be an integral part of the Water Services Leadership Team, reporting to the Managing Director of Water Services. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Water Services in your regional area, leading and developing teams to meet key strategic priorities:

  • Water quality and resilience
  • Net zero and environmental gains
  • Affordability and customer service

Through strong, visible leadership, you will ensure exceptional operational performance, drive health and safety excellence, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure a strong safety culture, reducing risks and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Asset Operations & Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and operation of assets, ensuring network resilience, compliance, and efficiency while maintaining asset health.
  • Customer Operations: Work closely with Customer Strategy & Operations teams to ensure customer-centric decision-making and service excellence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry bodies, and community representatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive standardisation of operational and maintenance processes, championing efficiency and innovation.
  • Crisis Management: Provide leadership during high-severity operational incidents, ensuring swift resolution and mitigation.

  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrable experience in leading and coaching large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the water services sector, including regulatory frameworks and technological advancements.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to blend analytical thinking with strategic insight to enhance business growth and service delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Experience in risk assessment and ensuring adherence to industry best practices and legal requirements.
  • Excellent Communication: Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional qualification, ideally supported by an MBA.
  • Full UK driving licence.
