The Role

As Project Manager - MEICA, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering design and construction schemes, ensuring projects meet business, operational and regulatory requirements.

You will manage projects from initial feasibility through to commissioning and handover, taking responsibility for scope, cost, programme, risk and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver non-infrastructure MEICA capital projects associated with water abstraction, treatment, supply and distribution.
  • Manage projects from feasibility, design and procurement through construction, commissioning and operational handover.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop, monitor and control project budgets and expenditure.
  • Prepare and manage specifications, tender documentation and contract documentation.
  • Lead contractor engagement activities, including tender evaluations and contract negotiations.
  • Monitor project performance, progress, risks, dependencies and outcomes, providing clear reporting and recommendations.
  • Carry out technical reviews of third-party MEICA designs and engineering submissions.
  • Oversee construction, installation and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Support the development of feasibility studies and business cases for future investment and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to Periodic Review (Business Plan) activities and other strategic business initiatives.
  • Mentor colleagues and support the development of engineering and project management capability within the organisation.
  • Participate in the review and development of company engineering standards and best practice.
  • Provide technical and operational support during business incidents or emergency situations when required.

Essential Qualifications

  • HND, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or Systems Engineering.

Desirable Qualifications

  • PMP or CAPM certification.
  • Understanding of NEC contract principles.
  • ILM Level 3, DMS or equivalent management qualification.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer status with an appropriate professional institution.
  • Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Strong understanding of MEICA design principles.
  • Experience of contract preparation and administration.
  • Experience managing third-party contractors, consultants and service providers.
  • Demonstrable project management experience within engineering or capital delivery environments.

Desirable

  • Water treatment and water industry knowledge.
  • Multi-disciplinary MEICA project experience.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Procurement and tender management experience.
  • Experience of MEICA commissioning activities.
  • Working Arrangements
  • Primarily office-based with regular travel to operational sites and project locations.
  • Regular attendance to treatment works and site offices as required.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
