We’re proud to be part of Pennon Group, a leader in the UK water sector, working towards a greener future. Our goals include lowering our carbon footprint, planting 300,000 trees, restoring peatlands, and supporting farmers and landowners to improve water quality and wildlife.
This is a full-time position, offering £29,490.57 - £32,490.57, with the opportunity to increase your earnings through standby/on call rotas once fully trained.
In this role you'll be inspecting and operating strategic assets across our network, identifying any risks to water quality or supply.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying out routine and risk-based inspections of critical assets across the Strategic Operations network, ensuring assets are operating effectively and securely.
- Identifying faults, water quality, ecological and environmental risks, and reporting encroachments or issues requiring remedial works.
- Undertaking operational activities across the network including re-valving of trunk mains, mains flushing, leak detection, drain downs, inspections, cleaning, refilling and sampling of reservoirs, tanks and towers.
- Supporting emergency and planned operations by maintaining, inspecting, sterilising and sampling the emergency equipment fleet, deploying and operating CWS/AWS kits and pumps.
- Carrying out pre-works site assessments, ensuring operational solutions can be safely implemented, overseeing third-party contractors, and providing onsite requirements such as traffic management, land access and equipment needs.
- Liaising with landowners, customers, public authorities, colleagues and internal departments to support access, maintenance, repairs and day-to-day network operations, maintaining high standards of customer service and company values.
- Assisting in accurate data collection, record keeping, performance reporting and dashboard development.
- Ensuring all Health, Safety, Security and environmental policies, standards and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- When signed off, participating in standby, on-call and out-of-hours rotas.
What we’re looking for:
- Essential: GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. The ability to keep accurate records and produce concise reports. Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, with elements of reactive work and working to tight deadlines. Computer literate, with the confidence to use a range of systems to record data and produce reports. Excellent communication skills and approach to work – especially important during emergencies assisting investigations relating to loss of supply or ‘No Water’. Full driving licence and the ability to travel across our service area using a company vehicle. Flexibility to be part of a standby/on call rota which can require working during unsociable hours.
- Desirable: EUSR Water Hygiene Card. Understanding of discolouration risks, pressure differential and hydraulics within a network system. LGV C&E Licence and experience of filling and driving a water tanker. City & Guilds Disinfection.
What’s in it for you:
- Competitive annual leave with the opportunity to buy and sell to offer more flexibility.
- The opportunity to increase your earnings through standby/on-call arrangements.
- Access to thousands of discounts and vouchers through Pennon Perks.
- Employee assistance programme with access to 24/7 support.
- Company bonus scheme.
- Competitive company pension scheme – build your financial future with our pension plan.
- Training and development opportunities.
- So much more!
