Main duties of the job:
We are developing a Universal, Targeted Specialist model in mainstream schools, delivering EHCP intervention in mainstream schools, and expanding our buy-in service in mainstream and special schools and provisions. Day-to-day, you will provide assessment and therapy services to a mixed paediatric caseload with speech, language, and communication needs, including report writing and opportunities for training parents/carers and those working with children with SLCN. There are opportunities to work in one of many special schools and provisions with support, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Difficulties, Developmental Language Disorder and Speech Disorders. We seek your preference for work locations when re-timetabling.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities:
- The post holder is responsible for safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk.
- Provide a speech and language therapy service to patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders, with supervision as appropriate.
- Make differential diagnoses based on assessment to guide intervention/treatment.
- Communicate complex information to clients, carers, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain sensitivity to emotional needs when delivering potentially distressing information.
- Initiate and provide treatment options with appropriate support and interpreters as needed.
- Negotiate with clients, carers, and professionals to agree care plans based on best practice.
- Use alternative communication methods (e.g., signing, symbols, speech synthesizers) after training.
- Demonstrate empathy and support effective communication.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:- Recognised speech & language therapy degree qualification or equivalent
- Health Professions Council Licence to practice
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Evidence of developing responsibility for clinic and caseload management
- Experience of working with other professionals relevant to client groups
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including observation, listening, and empathy
- Analytical skills for case load management, assessment, and therapy
- Auditory and perceptual skills for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
- Ability to transcribe speech phonetically
- Skills in handling clients with disabilities
- Ability to maintain intense concentration for prolonged periods
- Negotiation and problem-solving with clients, carers, and professionals
