In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development, testing, and maintenance of scalable integration architectures using JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js. You will design robust REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven AWS serverless workflows (including Lambda, SQS, and Step Functions) to seamlessly sync data with external accounting platforms. Additionally, you will diagnose and resolve complex system issues, mentor junior engineers, and leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to ensure maximum accuracy, performance, and reliability across our integrations.
Why ServiceTrade: You’ll belong here from the start. We bring together kind, curious people with diverse perspectives and trust them with meaningful work. You’ll have ownership, clarity, and support to solve real problems, make a visible impact for our customers, and continue growing as your role evolves. On the Accounting Integrations team, you’ll have the opportunity to architect and scale mission-critical integrations that seamlessly bridge our platform with external financial ecosystems. You will take full ownership of high-volume, event-driven serverless systems, leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate innovation, and mentor fellow engineers while tackling complex engineering challenges that directly impact the daily operations of thousands of commercial contractors.
About You: You are someone who takes full ownership of your work and thrives on delivering solutions. If there’s a problem in our system, no matter where the root cause lies, you pursue it until it’s resolved, ensuring our customers experience a seamless service. You never compromise on quality and are always looking for ways to improve performance, scalability, and efficiency. Your proactive, can-do attitude drives you to find answers, even in the face of complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities and Activities:
- Lead the development, testing, and maintenance of scalable codebase for complex accounting integrations and other products as necessary.
- Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve critical issues, implementing preventative measures to guarantee accuracy and reliability.
- Collaborate with and mentor junior engineers, fostering best practices in advanced software engineering principles and techniques.
- Establish comprehensive documentation for code, and processes to enable seamless team collaboration and knowledge transfer.
- Manage daily workload effectively between many priorities.

- AWS Ecosystem: Experience with AWS infrastructure, including Lambda, SQS/DLQs, S3, DynamoDB, Step Functions.
- System Design: Proficiency in designing robust Webhooks, REST APIs, OAuth/token flows, and handling retries/idempotency.
- Data & Infrastructure: Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB/DocumentDB. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and event-driven systems.
- Problem-Solver: A proactive approach to identifying and solving technical challenges with a focus on performance and scalability.
- AI-Assisted Development: Practical experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate delivery — and the judgment to review, test, and own the output.
