About the Family

We are a welcoming family looking for a kind, reliable and energetic Personal Assistant to support our fully dependent 14‑year‑old son. Our home is full of laughter, creativity and warmth, and we want someone who shares this ethos.

About the Child

He has Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) and is dependent on others for all daily living needs such as feeding, mobilisation, washing, and changing. He enjoys watching TV, playing video games, swimming, going out, and spending time with animals, especially dogs.

Job Details

You will provide compassionate support for Sam, assisting with day‑to‑day activities, personal care, and facilitating participation in hobbies, school and social experiences. Your role will be as much about creating joyful moments and memories as it is about practical care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care: bathing, dressing, toileting and hygiene.
  • Maintain a tidy room to help Sam know where things are.
  • Help with laundry and assist with organising medical supplies.
  • Assist with NG feeding and medication administration, following the training provided.
  • Support Sam in continuing activities he enjoys, such as video games, swimming and time with pets.

  • Warm, patient and energetic.
  • Comfortable with full personal care responsibilities.
  • Flexible, reliable and proactive.
  • Experience with children or young people with high needs is a bonus, but not essential – training will be provided.
