The predicted salary is between 14.5 - 14.5 Β£ per hour.

Salary: Β£14.50 per hour rising to Β£16.75 after a successful 3 months. (Sleep ins paid at Β£69.34)

Location: Hereford

Hours: 2 x 24 hour shifts a week

About me:

I am a young man with Autism and severe learning difficulties. I live in Hereford in my own flat and need 24 hour support to be safe and maintain my home environment and also abide by my rental contract. I am non verbal and communicate by the use of pecs, sign language and visuals. I want to continue to enjoy and engage in my local community. I enjoy trips out in my car, walking, visiting places, local cafes and eating out. I have epilepsy and have infrequent seizures. I have medication daily for this and always carry emergency medications with me.

Job details:

  • Be proactive in planning my daily support by using PECs and social stories.
  • Be my role model and companion by sharing my hobbies and interests.
  • Help me engage in my local community and groups.
  • Provide minimal personal care.
  • Provide practical support with household tasks.
  • Support me with cooking healthy meals.
  • Ensure my health and well being needs are met and I take my medications according to the GP instructions.
  • Support me by being calm if I have a seizure. You will receive training.
  • Support me in learning new life skills.
  • I need you to understand my communication needs and work with other professionals such as, doctors, dentists, medical and therapy teams.
  • Complete the required paperwork daily and follow up with emails, post and phone calls.

  • I lead a very active lifestyle, I don’t sit still for long and you need to keep up with me.
  • I need a team player as my team is small and like my second family.
  • You will need to be able to use your own initiative and problem solve daily.
  • You will need to be flexible and help cover sickness and annual leave.
  • Previous experience is desirable but not essential. I will make sure you get any training you need.
  • You will need to be willing to attend further training courses as they arise.
  • You must be able to understand the importance of confidentiality, be patient, calm and have a good sense of humour.
  • I need you to be a good communicator and have a good attitude to independence.
  • It is important that as a disabled person I am given a choice and I am listened to.
  • I have my own car so you need to be a car driver/owner.

About Direct Payments:

Direct payments are available from Local Authorities for people who have a care and support plan in place following a social care assessment. An amount of money is allocated to purchase support and care needed to live independently. I should stress that my mum will be your employer and have full responsibility for recruitment, contracts, pay and training. A support service assists her in meeting her responsibilities as an employer.

Salary: This rate of pay takes into account unsocial hours and weekends.
