Position Summary
The Contents Technician directly assists our customers with inventory and disposal of damaged contents, processing, packing, and cleaning of personal contents affected by fire damage, water damage, or mold. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively utilize technology to document and submit project files and paperwork, including time and crew sheets.
Responsibilities
- Assist in packing and loading household or office items onto trucks.
- Ensure that all items are properly secured and protected during transport.
- Unload items at the destination and assist in unpacking and setting up.
- Clean and deodorize contents affected by a loss.
- Assess and catalog non-restorable contents with proper approvals from Adjusters.
- Ensure contents have been processed correctly by completing visual inspections and signing off.
- Monitor the safeguard of inventory within the company’s possession.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area and jobsite.
- Ensure the Fireline is safe, neat, and organized.
- Handle customers’ contents in accordance with the job scope and customer requests.
- Report broken or damaged goods to management and complete required documentation.
- Follow industry best practices and safeguards during content handling.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned or apparent.
Skills/Qualifications
Required
- Must be physically able to perform pack out/cleaning tasks and lift heavy objects as required.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
- Previous experience in restoration or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a customer-focused approach.
- Strong problem-solving/decision-making capabilities.
- Fluent in industry standards and protocols.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Organizational skills and analytical thinking.
Work Environment
This is an in-field position that requires frequent travel to and from active job sites. Jobsites may contain asbestos, microbial growth, lead, or other hazardous materials; PPE will be provided. Jobsites may or may not have electricity; expect to work in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
Physical Demands
This position typically requires standing or walking for extended periods and may involve heavy manual labor. You may need to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items often.
