The Team:

You will be based at Launceston General Hospital, working directly with a team of 8. In a hospital setting means a blend of acute and chronic presentations requiring bespoke interventions, ensuring a variety of work. Together with the wider Tasmanian Orthotics and Prosthetic Service, you will be offered support and guidance from an internationally experienced team from Hobart and the state’s North West.

The Role:

The Orthotic/Prosthetic Technician provides:

  • High level technical services including complex technical work to support the clinical management of clients who require provision of prosthetic and orthotic services.
  • Supervision and training in prosthetic and orthotic technical skills and knowledge as required.

You will need to:

  • Collaborate with clinicians in the technical design of orthotic, prosthetic, seating and footwear manufacture and modifications to meet consumers prescribed clinical needs.
  • Undertake the technical manufacture, fabrication, repair and maintenance of an extensive range of prosthetic, orthotic and seating systems, including some footwear modifications in consultation with clinical staff.
  • Provide innovative and creative input into the technical design and manufacture of devices for the clinical management of complex consumers.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:$74,783 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Experience in technical and manufacturing processes, including hands-on production, equipment troubleshooting, and implementing efficiency improvements to support high-quality output and operational excellence.

Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements or TGA personalised medical device regulation requirements.

  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration – NDIS endorsed
