The Alasdair Macdonald Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a 25 bed high acuity unit focusing on acute medicine, with a strong multidisciplinary approach to healthcare. AMU fosters a supportive and inclusive environment to learning, including access to professional and career development. Here on AMU we have a strong focus on staff wellbeing and recognition. Role: Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals. Practice in accordance with the NMBA codes and guidelines for registered nurses and midwives. Contribute to the maintenance and promotion of a safe work environment. In collaboration with members of the healthcare team plan, implement and evaluate patient/client care. Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a strong team approach through open communication and a positive supportive approach.

Details of appointment: Fixed term part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 56 hours per fortnight, 25 May 2026 until 25 May 2027. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
