The Child Health and Parenting Service are looking for suitable Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) candidates to join our dynamic team in providing quality service to families of children under 5 based in the Northern region of Tasmania.

The Team: The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provide important health and wellbeing services to families across Tasmania with children aged 0-5. The service promotes the healthy development and wellbeing of children, providing growth and developmental assessments, health-focused early intervention, referrals, and connections with other early childhood service providers. The CHaPS support families as they transition into parenthood, enhancing parental confidence and capacity, and providing information and services focused on building relationships between children and parents/care givers.

The role: The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is an experienced nurse who works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources.
  • Providing operational leadership through the coordination of day-to-day client-facing activities, including appointment rescheduling and management of staff leave.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders to promote client care delivery.
  • Acting as a role model and clinical resource person to provide clinical advice and recommendations, support service development processes and promote positive change.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated clinical experience within the area of Child and Family Health/the Child Health and Parenting Service, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated high level of clinical knowledge and skill to ensure clinical standards and policies and procedures to promote a client-focused model of care according to best practice principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the CHaPS.

Details of appointment: Permanent, part-time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing from April 2026. Salary: $109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwives Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.

Desirable criteria include holding, or working towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications.
