We are seeking Clinical Nurse Specialists with experience in complex case management, assessment, counselling, and/or therapy, preferably within mental health or a related sector. You will work within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment to young people and their families.
Our Aim:
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is expanding! We seek passionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialists to deliver clinical services to young people and their families experiencing mental health concerns. The roles are within new teams developed under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be committed to a person-centred approach and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
The role will include:
- Being part of a dynamic, well-supported team committed to delivering high-quality mental health services to young people and their families/carers.
- Providing clinical services through complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including developing and implementing specialised treatment programs.
- Collaborating with team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new youth mental health services in Tasmania.
- Leading and supporting a diverse group of clinicians within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, including offering support and consultation to team members as needed.
- Having training in evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is highly regarded.

Three positions are available in the North:
- Based in Launceston CBD.

Details of Appointment:
Three permanent full-time day positions, 76 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible.
- The selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies within twelve months of the posting date.
Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
- Salary is aligned with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.
Additional allowances may include:
- Post Graduate Allowance up to 10%, based on qualifications.
Salary Packaging:
Options available for benefits such as living expenses ($9,010), meal entertainment ($2,650), and other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:
Applicants must:
- Be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and hold a postgraduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification, or equivalent registration.
- Have completed an appropriate allied health professional course and be registered or eligible for membership.
- Hold current Working with Children Registration.
*Registration/licences must remain current throughout employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to maintain and update their registration/licences and notify the employer of any changes.
Desirable criteria include:
- Postgraduate experience in CAMHS mental health.
- Minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience in child/adolescent/youth mental health.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
