Make a Difference Through Fair and Effective Financial Assessments

Are you an analytical, detail-oriented professional with a passion for helping people? Do you have the ability to work sensitively with individuals who require social care support, while ensuring financial assessments are completed accurately and fairly?

Herefordshire Council is looking to recruit FOUR Financial Assessment Visiting Officers to join its Adults and Wellbeing service on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an essential local authority service, supporting individuals who require care while helping them understand their financial responsibilities and access the support they may be entitled to.

The Role

As a Financial Assessment Visiting Officer, you will carry out detailed financial assessments for individuals receiving, or requiring, residential care, domiciliary care and community-based support. Working in accordance with the Care Act and Herefordshire Council's Care and Support Charging Policy, you will help determine the appropriate financial contributions individuals need to make towards their care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive financial assessments, reviewing income, savings, assets and liabilities.
  • Assessing individuals' financial contributions towards residential and non-residential care services.
  • Ensuring assessments are accurate, fair and compliant with relevant legislation and local authority policies.
  • Identifying opportunities to maximise benefit entitlements and ensure individuals receive the financial support available to them.
  • Providing clear information and guidance about care charges and financial assessment outcomes.
  • Signposting individuals to independent financial information, advice and support where appropriate.
  • Communicating sensitively and professionally with individuals who may be experiencing challenging personal circumstances.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong numerical and analytical skills with a compassionate, customer-focused approach. You will ideally have:

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to assess financial information accurately.
  • Strong numerical skills and confidence reviewing income, savings, assets and expenditure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to explain financial information clearly and sensitively.
  • A professional, empathetic approach when working with vulnerable adults and their families.
  • The ability to manage your workload effectively and work in line with policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • An understanding of social care financial assessments, the Care Act or local authority charging policies would be advantageous.

What's on Offer?

FOUR temporary vacancies with Herefordshire Council. A 12-week assignment within the Adults and Wellbeing service. Full-time hours of 37 per week. £20.00 per hour PAYE or £26.04 per hour Umbrella/Limited. The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to adult social care services. Valuable experience working within a local authority environment.

With FOUR positions available, this is a great opportunity for suitable candidates to join Herefordshire Council's Adults and Wellbeing service.
