Locum Childcare Lawyer
Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Locum Childcare Lawyer to join an East London Borough Council on an initial 12-week contract, with the potential for extension. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Locum Childcare Lawyer to provide high-quality legal advice and support across Children’s Services.
Locum Childcare Lawyer – Role Details
Location: East London
Working pattern: 1 day per week in the office and 4 days remotely
Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract: Initial 12 weeks, with potential for extension
Pay rate: £55 per hour umbrella
PAYE rate: £48.17 per hour including holiday pay
PAYE rate: £42.99 per hour excluding holiday pay
Locum Childcare Lawyer – Candidate Responsibilities
- Provide clear, practical legal advice on a broad range of Children’s Services and childcare matters.
- Manage a complex Children’s Services caseload from instruction through to resolution.
- Undertake advocacy in court proceedings, tribunals and inquiries.
- Advise and support clients on relevant legislation, case law and best practice.
- Attend committees, panels and safeguarding meetings, providing effective legal guidance.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and professional teams to support positive outcomes for children and families.
- Maintain accurate case records and manage competing deadlines within a busy local authority environment.
Locum Childcare Lawyer – Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer.
- Relevant experience in childcare law and Children’s Services matters.
- Proven ability to manage complex casework independently.
- Experience undertaking advocacy in relevant proceedings.
- Strong knowledge of applicable legislation, case law and legal best practice.
- Local authority experience is desirable.
- Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills.
