Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in East Suffolk for a Support Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will support the Finance Business Partners on the Financial Planning team across a range of service areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Finance Business Partners with revenue and capital budget monitoring, annual budget setting, financial forecasting and management reporting.
- Assist with year-end accounts preparation, reconciliations, working papers and the accurate accounting of grants, reserves and overheads.
- Provide financial advice and guidance to service managers and budget holders, supporting informed decision-making and effective budgetary control.
- Support statutory and government returns, fees and charges reviews, financial management projects and the administration of financial systems.
Candidate Criteria
- AAT qualified or equivalent experience, preferably within local authority or public sector.
- Proven experience in an accounting or management finance role, with a sound understanding of accounting principles, budgetary control and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting budget holders or non-financial managers, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
- Strong Excel, financial systems and analytical skills, with experience in forecasting, reconciliations and month-end or year-end processes.
