Contract & Compliance Manager – Fire Safety £550 per day Umbrella / £420 PAYE 6–12 Month Contract Greater London INDM1 Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Contract & Compliance Manager – Fire Safety to support a large local authority housing portfolio. This is a senior compliance position overseeing fire safety contracts and compliance across approximately 10,000 residential properties , with responsibility for both directly and indirectly managed stock. The immediate priority will be to clear a backlog of Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) actions , ensuring remedial works are appropriately risk-prioritised, properly tracked and delivered to the required standard and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the management of fire safety compliance across a large residential housing portfolio.
- Oversee the Council’s external FRA contractor and fire remedial works contractors.
- Monitor and drive completion of actions arising from Fire Risk Assessments.
- Prioritise remedial works according to risk, while maintaining strong commercial and cost control.
- Oversee programmes including fire doors, communal doors and other fire safety remedial works.
- Monitor contractor performance, quality and delivery, challenging poor or incomplete works where required.
- Develop strong working relationships with Planned Works and other internal Council teams to coordinate remedial activity.
- Manage relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including the London Fire Brigade.
- Lead and support a team including a Contract Delivery & Quality Manager and Building Safety Manager.
- Maintain robust compliance records, reporting and audit trails.
- Ensure fire safety programmes are delivered effectively, within budget and to the required standards.
About You:
- Extensive experience of fire safety within residential housing is essential.
- Strong background in fire safety compliance, ideally within a local authority or housing association .
- Proven experience managing contracts and external contractors.
- Strong understanding of Fire Risk Assessments and the management of associated remedial actions.
- Experience prioritising compliance works based on risk and available budgets.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience of quality assurance and challenging contractor performance where necessary.
- A relevant Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH/NEBOSH, or equivalent relevant experience, is desirable in line with the wider role requirements.
